Rules for the BLANK ON A BLANK Filmmaking Challenge
Eligibility
Anyone can enter the BLANK ON A BLANK Filmmaking Challenge. There are no age restrictions and entry is open to amateurs and professionals alike. No one helping with the film, however, can be paid.
What happens when you sign up?
After you sign up for the BLANK ON A BLANK Filmmaking Challenge, you will be given a randomly chosen animal and a randomly chosen vehicle. Your team will have until Thursday, August 3 at midnight CST to upload a finished film to www.blankonablank.com.
Film Content:
There are no restrictions to the content of the film except for these 3 basic rules:
1) All films must be between 2 and 5 minutes long.
2) All films must be some sort of disaster film wherein your randomly chosen animal ends up on your randomly chosen vehicle.
3) All films must contain the line of dialogue "(your randomly chosen animal) on a mother fucking (your randomly chosen vehicle)."
4) The films can contain violence or nudity but in keeping with Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission regulations, we cannot allow anything that would be deemed pornography. You may not harm real animals or unwilling people in the making of your video.
Judging
All completed films will be posted on this website and will be reviewed by online viewers. To vote, you must register with www.blankonablank.com. You may only vote one time for each posted films. Voting will close on Thursday, August 10 at midnight, CST. Winners will be announced on Friday, August 11 at 8 AM CST on this website. Full resolution AVI or .MOV versions of the posted winning films must be sent via fedex to the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema and be received by Tuesday, August 15 to be eligible for prizes.
"Best of" screening and awards ceremony:
The "Best of" screening will be held Thursday, August 17th at 10:00pm at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema South Lamar (1120 South Lamar Blvd). As this is an international competition, filmmakers do not have to be present to win. Tickets for this screening are limited, we advice early advance purchase.
Prizes:
There will be cash prizes for the top 3 films, plus additional prizes TBD. Check back here for more details.
Finished film format:
Completed films must be uploaded to www.blankonablank.com with the following specs:
FileType: MOV
Width: 320 pixels
Compression: Sorenson 3
Date rate: 250 kbps
Sound: Apple Lossless, 16bit, mono
Full resolution AVI or .MOV versions of the posted winning films must be sent via fedex to:

Ownership of the finished film
The filmmakers have the rights to the finished videos. However, BLANKONABLANK.COM reserves the right to broadcast the videos, include scenes from videos in future promotional materials, and include videos in DVD compilations.
