After watching Christian Bale's Bruce Wayne in this summer's BATMAN BEGINS, all we could wonder was how
long it would be before that billionaire playboy totally lost it and started chopping up his enemies. Bale may have
started his journey into our collective consciousness in NEWSIES and SWING KIDS, but it was his brilliant
performance as the title character of Brett Easton Ellis' novel about the corporate greed culture of the 1980s that
launched him towards icon status. As Patrick Bateman is undone by the societal pressures around him and
eventually finds that cutting up others is his only way of really cutting loose, the audience is left to wonder just where
the lines really are when everyone around you is obsessed with clawing their way to the top.
