THRILLERFEST 2009

Location: Rolling Roadshow

IMPORTANT THRILLERFEST DETAILS!

It's almost Thrill Time! These are just a few notes to make sure you know what's going on, what to expect, and how best to get your Thrill on this weekend.

THE LOCATION Everything we're doing on Saturday will be taking place in the back of the abandoned Seaholm Power Plant. The stage/screen will be set up against the back wall where the smoke stacks are, and we'll have various stage pods scattered throughout the area for assistant instructors to stand on to help guide us through the lesson.

The important thing for you to know is that we're entering Seaholm through the back gate at West Third Street and West Avenue. You can find that location here.

PARKING If you can find parking on the streets in the surrounding blocks when it's time for the event, you'll be able to park for free. Early birds will probably be able to take advantage of that, as the area doesn't really fill up on a weekend until later into the night. There are a bunch of us coming together at the same time for this, of course, so you can expect to lose your spot to another Thriller if you're not among the first to arrive.

If there are no spots on the streets, you can find pay parking at the garage of the Monarch apartment building on 5th Street, or you can head to the state garage at 300 San Antonio Street. Please note that there is construction happening on the trail over Shoal Creek on Third Street. You might be able to make it past the barricades and across the bridge, but it's a good idea to plan on walking around and going out to 5th Street then coming down West.

CHECK IN There will be two lines available at check in, one for people who intend to dance and a separate line for people who are just there to spectate. That's because to fulfill Guinness requirements, all of our dancers must sign in before we dance, and (this is important) sign out again whenever you leave the venue. If you don't sign in and sign out, you won't count as an official world record dancer!

This is an all ages event, and we'll be wristbanding everyone at the entrance so in and out privileges will be allowed. Dancers will have to sign out and in everytime they leave, though, so get most of the stuff you need from your car in the first trip!

Speaking of things you should bring, we will have concessions available for sale, but feel free to bring your own food and water. We can't allow any alcohol to be brought in or out, but other than that we're not worried about it. If you'd like to bring a chair to rest on in between dance sessions, that's totally fine as well. And probably a good idea!

Also a good idea - be dressed as a zombie!

And while you're a zombie, you might wanna think about bringing some sunscreen for the early part of the event, and possibly a jacket for the late dance party. We'll probably have you dancing so hard you don't have any trouble keeping warm, but it might be a bit too chilly for just a T-shirt.

TIMELINE
The doors will be open to the public beginning at 4:30pm. Tracy Brown from Body Business gym will lead the first dance lesson beginning at 5pm, and plans to have us through the entire dance in an hour. From 6pm to 7pm, we'll keep rehearsing and rehearsing and rehearsing the dance.

At PRECISELY 7:30pm we'll all start to rise from our zombie graves and break into a zombie march with some shoulder snaps at the EXACT SAME TIME as people are dancing in other cities and countries around the world.

At 7:37pm we'll jump up and down and cheer and clap for ourselves and our amazing awesomeness.

We'll probably take a small break at that point, then at 7:45pm or 8pm we'll start A full on Michael Jackson music video dance party, featuring all of the best moments from every music video Michael ever produced, as well as songs off of albums that never had a music video release. The Rolling Roadshow screens will be set up and the videos will be screened out under the stars with movie theater quality sound pumping out the jams until 11pm.

At 11pm, we'll all grab our crotches one last time, yell out, "A hee hee!" and then go home to rest for a few days in anticipation of the Tuesday midnight release of THIS IS IT at the Alamo Ritz.

Tickets to this event are now only available on site at Seaholm Power Plant. CASH ONLY!
