PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (1929) w/ Live Score!
Rated NR; 95min; Director:Rupert Julian (1925)
Location: Alamo South Lamar
If there's a better movie for a Halloween live score than the original Lon Chaney PHANTOM OF THE OPERA we haven't seen it. And if there's anyone we'd rather have behind the Alamo monstrous Wurlitzer organ console at South Lamar than maestro Graham Reynolds, we haven't met him.
Reynolds, known for his work as a film composer and mastermind behind the Golden Arm Trio, is eager to chill the marrow of audiences as they watch the man of a thousand faces, Lon Chaney, in his most terrifying role. Surely you know the story by now, but this is the primal version of it, and audiences today are still terrified by the atmospheric setting and, especially Chaney's climactic unmasking. Don't miss this special Halloween treat.
