Lovably dopey scientist Ned Brainard (played by the lovably dopey Fred MacMurray) has succeeded in accidentally inventing a flying rubber, which he naturally names "Flubber." The magical man-made material is capable of making shoes jump to dazzling heights and cars take antigravitational cruises through the sky. It also draws some unwanted attention from villainous businessmen who want to harness the secrets of Flubber for their own rotten-hearted purposes!
