This homemade horror onslaught was created entirely by, for and about monster nerds. San Francisco TV horror host John “Creature Features” Stanley wrote, produced and directed the tale of Malakai, the world’s most popular fright film vampire actor. When the reclusive big-screen bloodsucker is asked to be the guest of honor at a Bay Area horror convention, he’s all too happy to oblige. But it’s not long before Malakai’s fanbase starts to show up punctured and drained as a result of their hero’s bona fide vampirism. What follows is a goonball battle between a quixotic Van Helsing-esque lunatic named The Avenger and a ravenous constituent of the undead. Besides the countless late-’70s horror geeks and their virginity-extending fashion sense, this rollicking deathride features a spastically ghoulish performance from The Great Hy Pyke (SLITHIS; LEMORA), cinema’s most fearless hambone.
