The film tells the tale of a dysfunctional family's vacation to the Irish countryside that encounters a village of diseased, deformed and decidedly homicidal residents. PLAGUE TOWN is part of a welcome trend in horror filmmaking that presupposes the viewer is intelligent and savvy. Timing and good writing takes the place of CGI and overweening sound design. Filmmaker David Gregory, one of the cofounders of the Blue Underground label and a noted documentarian (his IFC doc THE SPAGHETTI WEST is essential viewing) is now with DARK SKY and SEVERIN Films.
