REPO! THE GENETIC OPERA

A futuristic Rock Opera starring Paul Sorvino and Paris Hilton? That's right. And we think you're going to LOVE it.

In the year 2056 – the not so distant future – an epidemic of organ failures devastates the planet. Out of the tragedy, a savior emerges: GeneCo, a biotech company that offers organ transplants… for a price. Those who miss their payments are scheduled for repossession and hunted by villainous Repo Men.

In a world where surgery addicts are hooked on painkilling drugs and murder is sanctioned by law, a sheltered young girl searches for the cure to her own rare disease as well as information about her family’s mysterious history. After being sucked into the haunting world of GeneCo, she is unable to turn back, as all of her questions will be answered at the wildly anticipated spectacular event: The Genetic Opera.

This futuristic horror rock opera stars Paul Sorvino (Goodfellas), Alexa Vega (Spy Kids), Paris Hilton (House of Wax), Anthony Head (TV’s “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”), Bill Moseley (The Devil’s Rejects), Ogre (from the band Skinny Puppy) and world-renowned opera singer Sarah Brightman (Broadway’s “Phantom of the Opera”). By fusing Rocky Horror Picture Show and Blade Runner, this unique production will modernize the “rock opera” genre with original music and rich, dark production design.

With a wild ensemble cast (Joan Jett for example, literally emerges from a bedroom closet to jam on one of the harder rocking numbers), a lush mixture of practical sets and opulent CGI, REPO! sucks you into it's dark and alien world and doesn't let you go. It's operatic, it's flamboyant, and it's dripping with blood.

This film played at Fantastic Fest this year to great acclaim, and huge throngs of people showed up IN COSTUME(!) to sing and dance along. This movie's got hype, and it deserves it. Check out this video from the fest of Henri talking with the director, Darren Bousman.
