Cinephiles, take a look at the picture on your right. It depicts a musclebound midget in a dog collar choking the shit out of a full sized man with a metal bar in a prison cell. It's hard to blame the midget, whose name is the Midnight Thud, for being upset and aggressive. You see, he's kept in a dungeon where he smokes crack all day until his effeminate handler Serengeti (played by General Hospital hearthrob Anthony Geary) turns him loose with orders to kill. The Midnight Thud can fly, too - but you probably already guessed that.

Director Jamaa Fanaka crams all the weirdness he can into this movie and then pours a gas can full of unstoppableness over it. If you only watch one movie this year - this is the one, no doubt about it. If you only watch 700 movies this year, watch PENITENTIARY III 700 times. Jamaa Fanaka will be in attendance to finally answer the question that's been hanging in the air for the last 21 years, "What the FUCK?"
