Long hair, longer goatees, ripped up baggy jeans and flannel shirts tied around your waist over the flannel shirt you were wearing as a shirt... the 1990s were a ridiculous time, but they were a ridiculous time that took themselves sooooo seriously. Only in the 1990s could someone like Eddie Vedder become a bona fide rock star by singing a song about a kid named Jeremy who liked to draw pictures of mountains with himself on top. Only in the 1990s could an album featuring an underwater baby chasing a dollar bill become the anthem for an entire generation. But only in the 2010s can we throw a party to remember that time by hitting the thrift stores again, buying some flannel, and coming down to the movie theater to celebrate Smashing Pumpkins, Stone Temple Pilots, Oasis, Weezer, Nirvana, and every other band from the days when "alternative" actually meant something (until those same bands made it completely meaningless). After the show, stick around to help me destroy Greg's sweater - I'm just going to pull a thread and walk away! (Henri Mazza)
