When Peter Stampfel and Steve Weber collided during the "Great Folk Scare" of the early sixties in New York, the two musicians bonded over their shared fascination with American roots music and early psychedelia. After 40 years of unpredictable live shows, drug addictions & breakdowns, The Holy Modal Rounders survived one of the strangest careers in music. With appearances by former Rounders drummer/playwright/actor Sam Shepard, Dennis Hopper, The Fugs, Dave Van Ronk, John Sebastian, Peter Tork, Loudon Wainwright III and others.
