Joss Whedons Birthday: BUFFY & ANGEL FINALES!

I guess it technically isn’t Joss’s birthday anymore after midnight, but that doesn’t mean the party’s going to stop. We’re starting the night off with CAN’T STOP THE SERENITY, then continuing it with BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SING-ALONG, and we aren’t going home until we absolutely have to.

There are two pop culture icons that I’m particularly attached to – BUFFY, and the Alamo Drafthouse. I realize that my personal attachment to the theater is probably stronger than anyone else’s, but I realized that the way I’m going to feel when I walk down those stairs and out into the Colorado Street night air for the last time will have a sort of instant nostalgia unlike anything I’ve ever felt in my life before, save for once. And that time, of course, was when Buffy went off the air. It didn’t seem real, did it? Hell, it still doesn’t feel real.

But yeah, I was remembering that feeling I had when I couldn’t get out of my seat and just had to sit there soaking it all in one last time, and I thought that for me personally, there’s no better way to say goodbye to one of my favorite buildings on the planet than with my favorite media phenomenon of all time. So even though it’ll be out of order, we’re going to start with the Angel finale and then end with the end of Sunnydale, then walk out into the street and be glad that our town still exists.
