A Tribute to the Original, Traditional, One-Hundred-Percent, Red-Blooded, Two-Fisted, All-American Christmas...

A Christmas Story has become an annual holiday classic, one to revisit along with It's a Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street, and A Charlie Brown Christmas. Deftly directed by the late Bob Clark and based on the childhood memoirs of humorist Jean Shepherd, A Christmas Story is filled with wry, deadly accurate and gently nostalgic comic sensibility that shines through in this kid's-eye-view of an all-American Christmas in the 1940s. All little Ralphie (Peter Billingsley) wants under the tree on Christmas morning is an Official Red Ryder 200-Shot Range Model Air Rifle. He not only wants it, he's consumed with an aching desire for it. Unfortunately, his mother (Melinda Dillon) repeatedly crushes his dreams with the familiar, harsh mantra: "You'll put your eye out!" The comic performance by the late, great Darren McGavin as Ralphie's "old man" is just one of the countless charms of this paragon of family comedy.

2007 Marked the untimely death of director Bob Clark, and we are dedicating this screening to his memory.
