Apparently there are two warring sects
in the religious musical world - GODSPELL and SUPERSTAR. And much like real-world religious
conflicts, this battle between the musicals has to come to a peaceful solution if we're ever going
to have any real hope of peace on earth. After all, isn't our musical preference primarily a
symptom of how we were raised? Owen performed in the stage production of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR in
high school, so as an adult he finds it to be far superior to the infidel's musical. Henri sang the
songs of GODSPELL in a high school choir concert, so he thinks that "Day By Day" is the most sacred
stage hymn of all time. But in order to maintain the peace and stop the Alamo Downtown from
becoming a theater of conflict, Henri conceded to Owen that SUPERSTAR would be the more fun show to
put on this Easter season. Besides, after 2004's excessively violent PASSION OF THE CHRIST, don't
we all need a more light-hearted version of the savior's last days on earth? One with singing, and
70s fashions? Yes. Yes we do need that.
