Big News! We've partnered with the parking garage at 7th and San Jacinto to provide
a $2.00 discount from their regular rates to anyone who returns to their car
with an Alamo ticket stub. The discount is available after 6pm Sunday through Thursday. Just pay the full price on your way in, then stop
by the attendant with stub in hand on your way back to your car, and you'll
get a $2 refund. Easy parking, good deals, and all just a block away from
the Ritz.
At this point that discount will unfortunately NOT apply on Friday and
Saturday, but if we show them how loyal Alamo customers can be, we might be
able to swing a discount on the weekends at some point in the future as
well. Look for the Alamo sign on the parking garage in the next week or so,
and we'll see you downtown!
The garage is on 211 E. 7th St, Southwest Tower garage.

Our Chef & Menu
Elijah Horgan
Executive Chef: Alamo Ritz
Chef Elijah Horgan’s mother never realized that his penchant for playing air guitar on her pots and pans would lead to the two passions of his life – Food and Music.
Chef Horgan’s culinary career started at a restaurant known as Banditos, one of the best Mexican food restaurants in Huntsville, Alabama. Already having followed his musical instincts, Elijah spent his tenure at Banditos gaining a basis of culinary knowledge from his mentor, business owner and a culinary genius of over forty years, Oscar Gutierrez.
From this beginning, Elijah took the experience he had acquired from Mr. Gutierrez to assist in opening a new restaurant in Alabama, helping to create the menu and running the daily operations. Through the years, he has volunteered his time to work for various restaurants and chefs in the interest of gaining more culinary skills and knowledge with an emphasis in Mexican Cuisine.
Today, Chef Horgan finds himself at the helm of the kitchen of the Alamo Drafthouse Village after spending the last two years working as sous chef for Chef John Bullington at the Alamo Drafthouse Lamar. While working at Lamar, Elijah has been involved in three Alamo IRON CHEF competitions, cooked for various celebs including film director Joe Dante, and numerous private events and feasts, culminating in his own feast for a presentation of the film CRAZY SEXY CANCER.
Elijah continues to donate his time and skills to charity work such as Communities in Schools and the Capital Area Food Bank, and music is still at the core of his creativity. We will be looking forward to enjoying many great innovations from this culinary maestro.

How things work at the Alamo

The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is Austin's only independently owned and operated movie theater. We serve a full menu of dinner and drinks to your seat while you watch the movie. The theater is laid out like a traditional movie theater, except every other row of seats has been replaced with a long narrow table for your food and drinks. Those who have never been to the Alamo may worry about disruptions during the movie, but we have devised an ordering system that minimizes interaction during the film, allowing you to order, eat and enjoy the movie with minimal distraction. We recommend arriving early; we typically seat the theaters 30 - 40 minutes before show time and there is always pre-movie entertainment on the screen while you wait for the movie. We have waiters that serve you at your seat; orders before the movie begins are taken in the traditional way. Once the movie starts if you need anything at all, there is paper and pencils at the table, write down what you need on the paper, stand the paper up on the card holder attached to the table. This acts as a flag, your waiter will only come by if he sees the card, otherwise he will stay out of your way so you can enjoy the film.

Balcony Information
So what are these “balconies” we speak of?
Well I’m glad you asked! They only exist at the Alamo Downtown and only in one of our two theaters. They are furnished with leather love-seat recliners with the best view in the house and best of all, no waiting in lines! It’s the perfect way to add that special touch to that romantic evening, hard core fan gathering, or good old fashion nerd-out you’ve been planning. Not enough yet? Well then make sure to keep in mind that our staff can handle all sorts of special requests. That’s right anything from chilled champagne, rose pedals, or just a group of chums for a surprise party could be ready and waiting! Just make sure to give us a heads up at balconies@originalalamo.com or even just call at 512-474-1510.
You can now purchase balcony seats online through our website beginning June 18, 2010. Shows that will be playing in the theater overlooked by our balconies will have the option right there on the ticket purchasing page. The service charge is $20 for every two seats (a love-seat) on top of general admission ticket purchase. The website option is a package that includes all costs before the food and beverage tab and gratuity. You may choose how many love-seat packages for parties over two people you wish to purchase and also pick which balcony you would like to reserve by selecting the “choose seats” tab. One balcony package includes 2 balcony seats (a.k.a one love-seat) and 2 general admission tickets. There is an automatic 20% minimum gratuity that will be added to any food and beverage tab accrued during the screening. Plus these VIP seats are sold in groups of two, they are love-seats after all, and there are two separate balconies that can seat a total of four people each.
So stop stalling and secure yourself a pair, or all eight, while there are still some left!!
